Steve and Pattie Murray started the Murray Law Firm in 1970 with a small loan borrowed against their VW Bug. Steve, fresh from serving as an assistant district attorney, handled the courtroom work while Pattie ran every non-attorney role—legal secretary, paralegal, bookkeeper, office manager, file clerk, and receptionist.

As their family grew, so did the firm—from a true “Mom and Pop” shop to a respected plaintiff practice handling cases of national scope and recovering significant results for clients.

Pattie later attended law school and, after ten years of successful trial practice, was elected to the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal. In the firm’s twenty-fifth year, their son Stephen Jr. joined as an associate, followed five years later by their son Art after a clerkship with the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.

With second-generation leadership and guidance from their parents, the firm expanded its complex litigation work while maintaining its original family ethos.

Now in its fifty-fifth year, the Murray Law Firm—supported by a team of skilled associate attorneys and a professional staff of over thirty—handles mass and class actions on behalf of tens of thousands of clients nationwide, including consumer protection, environmental remediation, toxic exposure, healthcare insurance disputes, pharmaceutical product liability, and maritime personal injury.

While the cases have grown larger, the firm continues to provide the same level of individual attention that defined its beginnings.
